WHAT is CyFi?

CyFi is Cyprus’ film festival dedicated to the art of genre cinema!

Founded in 2018 and returning in 2026 after a long hibernation, CyFi celebrates science fiction, fantasy, horror, thriller and cult classics from the Mediterranean and beyond. The festival is a meeting point for filmmakers, audiences and dreamers who believe that genre storytelling is one of the most exciting and expressive forms of contemporary cinema.

From visionary new voices to iconic cult films, CyFi brings bold stories back to the big screen and places them at the heart of cultural life in Cyprus.

CyFi takes place in Nicosia, at the legendary Pantheon Cinema - the only remaining cinema in the historic heart of the city.

For three days, from 20 to 22 February 2026, Pantheon becomes a portal to other worlds: a home for premieres, discoveries, late-night cult screenings and encounters with the creators who shape genre cinema today.

Our Mission

Genre cinema has always been a laboratory of imagination.

It is where filmmakers experiment, where new audiences are born, and where our fears, hopes and myths take cinematic form. CyFi exists to showcase this cinema, to support emerging voices from the Mediterranean region, and to connect Cyprus with the international genre film community.

Our goal is to make CyFi a permanent home for fantastic, daring and visionary storytelling in Cyprus.

Beyond the Screen

CyFi is more than a film festival.

Alongside screenings, the festival hosts a series of parallel events designed to bring the community together, including:

  • Masterclasses with acclaimed filmmakers from around the world

  • Talks and discussions on genre storytelling

  • Geek-inspired events such as a festival trivia night, video game tournaments and cosplaying opportunities

CyFi is a space to watch, learn, debate, celebrate and play!

Who We Are

CyFi is organised by GeekOtopos Collaborative Hive, a non-profit organisation that has been fostering imagination in young people through pop culture activities since 2016.
